The ‘No kings’ protest
chicago, illinois
The "No Kings" protest in Chicago on June 14, 2025 was part of a nationwide demonstration against authoritarianism and the erosion of democracy. Thousands gathered at Daley Plaza, marching through the city in opposition to Donald Trump’s return to power and the growing use of military and royal symbolism. Protesters called for accountability, democratic integrity, and an end to what they saw as dynasty-style politics. Organized by grassroots groups like Indivisible and the 50501 Movement, the protest coincided with Trump’s birthday and Flag Day. The atmosphere was bold, energetic, and peaceful—Chicago’s way of saying: no crowns, no kings, no silence.
