the story.
Bruxa magaZine is a Chicago-based media publication devoted to the raw power of visual media, music, activism, gaming, film —and those who live for it
…and feed on it.
We created this publication for people who are passionate about story and meaning. The ones who dress up for the concert. Who scream every lyric like a ritual. Who pay attention to the details in a random film. Who get lost in a really good video game.
Bruxa Magazine isn’t just about capturing the experience—we genuinely care about amplifying the resistance. From the pit to the picket line, we document movements. Not just because they matter, but also because they should not be forgotten.
We also want to celebrate individuals—on stage, in the crowd, or behind the lens—not for their status, but for their passion, expression, what they want to give to the world. Each individual we meet has something to share. A person is also a work of art.
Finally, we are serious film and gaming lovers too. Not just as entertainment or an escape, but as a mirror, as visual poetry. We’re drawn to films and games that have depth, explore themes that challenge power, make you think critically, are creative, and become a part of you. Therefore, we are passionate about spotlighting them. After all, films and games are nothing if they are not shared.
Founded by Baitul Javid, an Independent Photographer and self proclaimed gamer nerd with a love for mixed media, film, gaming, music, and truth.
Bruxa grew out of the need to document what possesses us—and to create space for people to collaborate and support one another. Documenting isn’t competition—it’s obsession. We’re not critics. We’re not chasing clout. We’re here out of passion. Honestly, extra cool points for whoever knows what Bruxa is referenced from!
At Bruxa Magazine,
we don’t cover the scene.
We feed on it.
