January 17, 2026, Chicago, Illinois. Demonstrators gathered at the Chicago Water Tower for a ‘Free Iran’ protest revealing a spectrum of beliefs within the Iranian diaspora. Based on my conversations with people there, it was clear that participants, including myself, differed on what freedom should look like or what it means. Despite this differing of beliefs, participants stood together in calling for the end of a regime and the beginning of liberation for the people.

For the record. I support democracy. Not a monarchy. I personally do not think Reza Pahlavi (Javid Shah) is the solution to all of this. That is my opinion.
